Meet Marisa
Writing Coach
Story Healer
Myth Worker
For years, I signed my email newsletters with “the writer in me sees the writer in you.”
Though a lot has changed in the nature of my work and my expressions of creativity, that sentiment has remained the same.
We are mirrors for one another. We’re here to learn and grow together.
And yet, there’s so much more to you (and me) than “just” being a writer.
We are multi-passionate creatives who seek to align life and livelihood, art and impact.
If you’ve found your way here, I am going to suggest we have some things in common:
We love language, mythology, and story for their own sake.
We believe in the power of words to create connection, transform ideas, and renew the world.
We seek expansive, global change, but we also know that such (r)evolution begins with reaching one person, one client, one reader at a time.
We are inspired to be part of the change we wish to see - socially, culturally, and ecologically.
I'm Marisa Goudy, and I’m here to help you work through the tangles of narrative, dissolve your creative blocks, reach your professional goals, explore your own mythologies, and weave your own truest story.
Together, we’ll combine passion and practicality to get words on the page and bring your work to the world.
Fifteen years ago, I left my career in academia and started my own business. A sudden loss taught me that I could not spend my life doing work I did not love. Plus, I had a newborn daughter to raise and I wanted the freedom and flexibility to support my family and expand my creativity in my own way.
Since 2010, I have collaborated with psychotherapists, healers, spiritual teachers, and creative entrepreneurs of all kinds, supporting them as writers and as business owners.
I’ve held space for the earliest conversations that begin “I think I have a book to write.”
I’ve held a client’s new book, fresh from the publisher, in my own joyful hands.
I’ve supported clients through the creation of courses and presentations — and held safe space to discover their voices as teachers and thought leaders.
As a founder and leader of several creative communities, including the Authors’ Knot and the Writers’ Knot, I invite folks from around the world to develop their unique voices and build lasting relationship.
More About My Background
In addition to being a writing coach for authors and entrepreneurs, I’m story healer and a myth worker.
My best selling book, The Sovereignty Knot: A Woman’s Way to Freedom, Power, Love, and Magic was released in 2020.
These days, my creative energies are devoted to the KnotWork Myth & Storytelling, the podcast where ancestral wisdom meets the modern imagination. My own creative and scholarly passions are focused on Irish literature and culture, so many of the stories you hear on the show originate in Ireland and other Celtic lands.
I believe that myth is medicine for modern life. I believe that rooting into ancestral stories, spirituality, and culture can help us create a world that honors both human diversity and biodiversity.
I hold a BA in English from Boston College and an MA in Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama from University College Dublin. More recently, I have studied with Bard Mythologies, The Trailblazery’s Scoil Scairte, and Jennifer Murphy’s Celtic Women’s Imram.
A longtime student of the Sacred Center School for the Healing Arts, I am the co-author of two books with my teacher Eleanora Amendolara, including Divine Embodiment: The Art & Practice of Chumpi Illumination.
My husband and our two daughters live with Nuala the pyredoodle and orange cat name Little Dude McCool on the lands of the Esopus people of the Lenape tribe in what is now New York’s Hudson Valley.
