You’re a writer.

Or, you want to be.

If only writing was a regular part of your life.

It’s just hard to claim the time and space to write.

Work. Family. The state of the world. The details of the daily routine.

Everything competes for your attention.

There are always reasons to put off your writing and creativity until “later.”

For the next two seasons, you are invited to (re)claim the part of yourself that knows writing helps you heal, explore, and grow.

Imagine you regularly set aside time for your own creativity & self-expression.

What would you write about?

  • memoir and memory

  • the spiritual journey and the imaginal realm

  • mythology and archetype

  • healing and personal growth

  • our greatest collective struggles (patriarchy, colonialism, racism, consumerism, and the assault on our natural world)

Do these topics capture your heart and mind?
Then the Writers’ Knot is the place for you.

The Writers Knot:
prioritize your writing,
reconnect with your creativity &
build creative community

When you join the Writers’ Knot you will:

  • Write during three live writing practice sessions per month: 50 minutes of prompted writing followed by a brief reflection on what came through for you.

  • Connect with fellow writers in our Writers’ Salon, held at least every other month. This is where we’ll share works-in-progress, and you can ask questions about the craft of writing, and receive some coaching on the creative process.

  • Form lasting friendships in our online community where you can share resources and find peer support.

Starting in Summer of 2024, there will be two Writers’ Knot groups.

You’ll have the option to join us on

Mondays at 7 PM ET

OR

Wednesdays at noon ET

via Zoom.

All sessions are recorded and are made available within 24 hours.

Our next five-month session begins
August 1, 2024

with a special 3 hour online retreat
focused on the energy of harvest and discernment (all in celebration of the Celtic festival of Lughnasadh!)

Writing in community will transform your relationship to your individual writing practice

Our approach is simple:

We trust that sitting down to write with others will make it possible for unexpected, powerful new ideas to show up on the page.

In each hour-long writing practice, you can expect to write for about fifty minutes.

A new set of writing prompts will help you shape your writing experience each time. You can also bring your own project-in-process.

Every other month (at least) we’ll hold a Writers’ Salon where you can share your writing and bring your writing questions.

Every member of the Writers’ Knot is on their own unique journey.

  • Some members journal daily

  • Some members depend on this one hour a week of writing practice to pick up a pen

  • Some members are working on book

  • Some members are writing for their businesses regularly

  • and some members will take the prompts and use them to access memories, philosophical questions, and the imagination in totally unexpected ways.

What can you expect when you join the Writers’ Knot?

  • three live writing practice sessions per month: prompted writing followed by a brief period to share what came through for you.

  • a Writers’ Salon at least every other month where we’ll share works-in-progress, you can ask questions about the craft of writing, and receive some coaching on the creative process

  • an online community where you can connect with other writers throughout the program

A few more important details you may be wondering about:

  • This is not a critique group. We gather to learn from each other and celebrate each other.

  • No one is in competition to produce or publish.

  • You never have to read your work aloud if you don't want to.

  • We are guided by compassion, curiosity, and a dedication to personal and collective growth. You're asked to show up for your own stories and open yourself to be inspired by the words, ideas, and questions that the other members bring to the group.

Meet your guide through the Writers’ Knot

I’m Marisa, and I’m a writing coach, story healer, myth worker, author, and the host of the KnotWork Storytelling podcast.

I’ve been running online writing communities since 2018 and, though the name of the group has changed over the years, the fundamental mission has always been the same:

In the Writers Knot, we're storytellers and poets, memoirists and bloggers, novelists and seekers trying to find a project that matters.

We welcome open-minded, big-hearted creatives, spiritual seekers, and dreamers who have decided to be brave enough to claim the title of “writer” and meet themselves on the page.

Together, we work out our creative tangles and weave new stories.

Five months in the Writers Knot offers you the chance to commit to yourself and your writing -
soulfully and wholeheartedly.

  • Prioritize your creativity.

  • Commit to your writing practice.

  • Devote yourself to your dreams, your intellect, and your imagination.

  • Get inspired and find yourself crafting (and living) a whole new story.
